Description
Vortex Rubber-Seal is a water-based, rubberised bitumen waterproofing solution designed to protect structures against water seepage, dampness, and corrosion. It forms a flexible, durable waterproof membrane that adheres to a wide range of surfaces, making it ideal for both horizontal and vertical waterproofing applications.
Engineered for versatility, it not only prevents water ingress but also protects pipes and structural steel from corrosion, ensuring long-term durability in demanding environments. Suitable for use on concrete, brick foundations, retaining walls, parapets, flashings, and wet areas prior to tiling.
Applications
- Waterproofing roofs, parapets, and flashings
- Damp-proofing retaining walls and foundations
- Sealing concrete surfaces in wet areas before tiling
- Protecting structural steel and pipes from corrosion
- Repairing and reinforcing existing waterproofing systems
Surface Preparation
- Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free of dust, dirt, and contaminants
- Do not apply to damp surfaces – excessive moisture may cause bubbling
- For walls, ensure surfaces are smooth (bagged or plastered) and dry (8–10% moisture)
Crack Treatment
- Apply a coat of Vortex Rubber-Seal directly to cracks
- For larger cracks, apply with a reinforcing membrane embedded into the coating
- For torch-on systems (butted joints), apply with membrane reinforcement
- If severely damaged, remove existing waterproofing before application
Application Method
- Apply using a brush or roller
- Apply 2 coats, each approximately 1mm thick
- Allow 24 hours drying time between coats
- Stir well before use
- No primer required
Coverage
- Approx. 5L per 2.5m² (2-coat system)
Suitable Substrates
- Concrete and cementitious surfaces
- Masonry and brickwork
- Galvanised steel and metals
- Existing bituminous waterproofing
Limitations
- Do not apply below 5°C
- Do not apply to wet or damp surfaces
- Excess moisture may cause bubbling
- Ensure proper surface preparation before application
