Description
Vortex Silver Seal is a general-purpose reflective aluminium coating designed to protect and extend the life of metallic, bituminous, and concrete surfaces. Formulated with high-quality aluminium pigments, it provides a highly reflective, UV-resistant barrier that shields surfaces from heat, weathering, and environmental exposure.

Ideal as a protective topcoat over waterproofing systems such as Vortex Rubber-Seal or bituminous membranes, it enhances durability while reducing surface temperatures through solar reflectivity.

Surface Preparation

• Surfaces must be clean, dry, and mechanically sound
• Steel: Remove rust, oil, grease, and loose paint
• Galvanised steel: Ensure clean and free of contaminants
• Bituminous surfaces: Must be free of dust, chalking, and loose material
• New bitumen surfaces should weather for ±8 weeks before coating

Bonding / Priming

• Generally applied directly to the substrate
• Steel: Use an etch primer if required
• Galvanised steel: No primer required
• Bitumen: No primer required (use primer only on porous/”hungry” membranes if needed)

Mixing

• Stir thoroughly before use to disperse aluminium pigment
• Keep well mixed during application to maintain consistency

Coverage

• Steel & Galvanised Steel: ±14 m²/L
• Bituminous Surfaces: ±6–8 m²/L
  (Coverage may vary depending on surface porosity and application thickness)

Application Method

• Apply using brush, roller, spray, or roofing mop
• Ensure even coverage and adequate film build
• Avoid thin application to maintain durability and performance

Cleaning

• Clean tools immediately after use with suitable solvent cleaner
• Follow with soap and water where applicable
