Description
Vortex Bitu-Primer is a high-performance bituminous primer solution formulated with petroleum solvents, designed to seal, protect, and prepare surfaces prior to waterproofing. It enhances adhesion between substrates and subsequent coatings, ensuring long-lasting and reliable waterproofing systems.

Engineered for South African conditions, it protects concrete, metal, and timber against water damage, corrosion, UV exposure, and humidity, while delivering smooth, even coverage with easy application.

Uses

• Priming surfaces before application of:
  • Cold-applied bituminous compounds
  • Hot or cold bituminous sealants
  • Torch-on waterproofing membranes
• Sealing porous and non-porous substrates
• Preparing surfaces for waterproofing systems

Surface Preparation

• Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, sound, and free of dust, oil, and laitance
• Remove any loose or flaking material before application

Mixing

• Stir thoroughly before use

Coverage

• Approx. 5 m² per litre (depending on surface porosity and texture)

Application Method

• Apply using brush, roller, or spray
• Apply evenly to achieve full surface coverage
• Allow to dry before applying waterproofing systems
• Recommended: 2 coats for optimal performance

Drying & Curing

• Drying time: ± 4 hours @ 25°C
• Overcoating time: Minimum 24 hours @ 25°C
• Do not apply below 5°C

Cleaning

• Clean tools immediately after use with Vortex Turpentine, followed by soap and water
